Things to Consider Before a Session
Before the session, it is helpful to think about your intentions and also about any changes you’ve seen since your last session with me.
Just taking the step to book a session can start the healing process unfolding - so congratulations on taking this step. You may notice symptoms coming up for attention or that your intentions change as you approach the session date. Sometimes symptoms can appear to be worse just before the session as the underlying dynamics are coming to the surface for resolution. If you feel unwell or you have a sudden scheduling conflict on the day, it may be best not to cancel but instead to change to a phone or recorded session so we can support the process that is already unfolding in your body.
Just a reminder these sessions are not intended to be a substitute for medical treatment, medications or support from a mental health professional or therapist. Please seek additional professional help if the support you need goes beyond what Medoc can provide.
After a Session
I suggest you don't schedule anything strenuous or stressful straight after the session and instead allow some time to relax, or perhaps take a walk or do some gentle movement.
Results from a session can be quite deep and your body may process and integrate the changes for a few days. You may find you need extra rest during this time.
Working Individually
Generally we will talk a little at the start of the session about your situation/intention and then move on to the healing work. If it is your first session we may talk a little more about your health and personal history to gather some background information, because of this your first session may run a little longer than normal.
Logistics for Online Sessions
We will meet via Zoom Video - the link is included at the top of this email. Most people have used Zoom by now but if you need more instructions let me know. Please note this Zoom link is unique to each appointment booking so please use the link in the most recent appointment confirmation email.
Phone or recorded sessions can be helpful when surprise scheduling clashes, illness, different time zones, or limited internet connectivity make zoom sessions difficult. Email or text me before the session if you would like to change to either of these options. Please note: for phone sessions you will call me. We can use WhatsApp for international calls if needed.
At the time of the session, please connect from a private location where you can relax either sitting comfortably or lying down. Preferably with a good internet connection, and where you can talk and hear easily.
Logistics for In Person Sessions
For Energy Alignment Sessions, Bodytalk and Reiki you will be laying fully clothed on a massage table. It is best to dress in comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily, preferably natural fabrics.
As people are often sensitive to fragrances, including me, please avoid using strongly scented products when you come for your session.
Working in an Online Group Session
Group sessions can be very powerful due to the added attention and intention of everyone taking part in the call. During the session I will tune into the energy of the group as a whole and any priority or theme that has developed. Using a combination of BodyTalk and other modalities I will do a session for everyone's wellbeing and growth. Everything that comes up for the group is potentially a shift for you, but your BodyMind will only make an adjustment when something is a priority for you personally. Your BodyMind makes these shifts as you listen and then the changes will integrate over time. (If you think you may benefit from more personalised attention you might want to consider an individual session in the future.)
Logistics for the Session
On the day of the session, we will meet via Zoom - the link is included at the top of your confirmation and reminder email. Most people have used Zoom by now but if you need more instructions let me know. The Zoom link is unique to each Group Session. If you cannot attend live, a recording will be provided.
Creating a safe container is really important for doing any deeply personal or ceremonial type work. Please only join a group event if you can take part in a good, supportive and attentive way. If you are intoxicated, trying to multitask, driving or have any condition where you are unable to give the group event your full attention while it is happening then it is best not to attend but wait for the recording instead.
Please join on time. If you try to join after the group session has already started (or if you drop off the Zoom call once the group session has started) we may not be able to let you into the call for logistical reasons and flow of the session. If this is the case, you are still included in the group energy and you will receive the recording after the session.
Join the call from a private, quiet location where you can relax either sitting comfortably or lying down. If you are watching with other people please make sure that you have registered individually, this ensures you are each included in the group energy for the session. It is also best not to attend from a public space (like a coffee shop or co-working space) where your screen is visible to others, or where others can overhear.
If we have time you may be invited to say hi as we get started. But once the recording has started please keep yourself muted until the recording is stopped and we have up for discussion again at the end. Preferably only unmute yourself if you are in a quiet space without disruptive background noise.
If anyone’s attendance becomes disruptive to the group call we may end their participation in the live call (eg loud background noise or lots of visual distraction). But they will still be included in the energy of the group call and will receive the recording.
To help events be inclusive for all people please be mindful of what you share in the group, and how you interact with others. It is best to avoid discussion of potentially controversial or polarising topics (such as politics, covid and other highly charged issues) unless they are relevant to the work being observed. Please keep your comments in the discussion related to your own personal experience.
Unless otherwise stated group sessions are not recommended for children because potentially sensitive information may be shared.
Privacy & Recordings
The online group sessions are recorded without the discussion portion. These recordings are shared with other registered participants and occasionally publicly. Be aware there is always the possibility your video or name may show on a recording and be shared (usually in the case of a technical glitch). If you are concerned about privacy you can choose to keep your video off, change the name shown on the screen, or wait for the recording instead of attending live.
Please do not record or take screen shots yourself, or share any recordings without Medoc's prior permission. The session will be recorded and shared with the discussion portion removed.
To respect the confidentiality of others please don't share any personal information about other people outside the group event.
If the recording is disrupted for some reason and cannot be shared, you are welcome to transfer your registration to another future group event or individual session.
